Judy Kanani
Consultant - Legal Adviser
A very thorough and prepared lawyer, Judy began her legal career after having gained an interest by championing the rights of the Elderly to have Continuing NHS Care Funding, an area of law in which she now specialises. Judy holds an LLB (Hons) law degree together with an LLM (Distinction) and is called to Bar at Inner Temple.
Judy has represented clients at continuing care funding hearings and panel reviews and has written articles and a detailed practice note in this area which guides other legal practitioners in how to deal with issues around elderly care funding.
Judy specialises in health care work, particularly current and retrospective challenges to decisions to refuse NHS funded continuing healthcare to long-term nursing home residents. Judy is instrumental in developing our Elderly Care department which acts to recover large sums in wrongly paid nursing fees.
Judy is also regularly instructed to advise in relation to Immigration matters including hearings at the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal as well as Employment, Matrimonial and Family Law issues.
